Kuda Returns

Bangor Cricket Club are delighted to welcome back former Zimbabwean A & Under 19 All-Rounder Kuda Samunderu to the club as its overseas player for the upcoming 2022 season.

Kuda who is certainly no stranger to Upritchard Park having spent the 2014 season here, is prolific top order batsman who scored 837 runs during the campaign at an average of just under 50, with one hundred and passing 50 six times. As an off spinner, his numbers are just as impressive taking 35 wickets at an average of just 16.71.

On his return to Bangor, Kuda commented ”I’m very excited and looking forward to my return to Bangor. I have very high hopes for the club and winning the league is always the goal for me. My role will be to help the team put in some entertaining performances with both bat & ball.”

With Kuda’s background in coaching and sports development, he’ll be a fantastic asset for the club this Summer with our thriving youth section. On the clubs youth section, Kuda couldn’t hide his excitement saying ”I’m delighted about hearing the clubs youth section is excelling. Junior development is something I’m very passionate about and I’m looking forward to adding value to that alongside Jonny Parker and the other Youth coaches at the club this Summer.”

Fixtures

League & cup fixtures for the four senior teams have been released over the last few weeks and complete set of fixtures are available on the club website under each teams individual page.

In April, the 1XI start at Upritchard Park on the 23rd April against Muckamore and a week later the 2XI are away to Derriaghy 2XI. On the 8th May the 3XI travel to Saintfield 2XI for their opening league match while the 4XI have to wait until the first round of the Minor Qualifying Cup in Mid May where they face the newly amalgamated Ards & Donaghadee 3XI.

Our four youth teams have also had their respective cup fixtures confirmed for the upcoming season with our U11 & U11 B teams away to Lisburn and Woodvale respectively. The U13’s are away to Donacloney Mill and our U15’s also away to Muckamore.

Pre-Season

With Spring in the air and the clocks moving forward, attention turns to the action on the field and with the new season now just a few weeks away, on Saturday 16th April the club are happy to announce that we’ll host our newly amalgamated neighbours Ards & Donaghadee CC to two games. The 1XI game will start at 12 noon and will be 30 overs and after that a 2XI game between the two clubs will start afterwards and will be a T20, both games will be played on the astro.

Both the upstairs and downstairs bar will be open with a BBQ on the go (weather permitting of course) during the afternoon and early evenings action. Once the Cricket has finished with a 8pm kick-off, the 2nd leg of the Ulster vs Toulouse match in Champions Cup will be shown inside as the Ulster men look to book their place in the quarter finals.

Corporate Lunch

Our ever popular Corporate Lunch will be back for the first time since 2019 on 6th August as the first eleven host Donacloney Mill in the league. More details on that will be announced closer to the time.

We’ll update members again in the early stages of the season as we round up some of the action on the field and important updates off the field!
