Bangor Cricket Club Training Update – Monday 26th April 2021

Fellow Cricketers,

Following a week of Covid restricted practice we are pleased to confirm with Club Members that Normal Cricket Nets will begin this evening – Monday 26th April 2021 – for All Adults.

Unfortunately Covid restrictions will continue for Youth practice and they are limited to 15.

Matches are due to commence from 8th May in a T20 format in the hope that a relaxation of Covid restrictions will allow 50 over cricket to return at the start of June, or earlier.

Unfortunately, spectators are still not permitted to attend matches but it is hoped that this restriction will be lifted shortly.

I would hope that all our players will avail of practice facilities, especially those players in the 2nds, 3rds and our new 4ths on Wednesday evenings. Those players hoping to play for the first and second teams will be expected to train on at least one evening and commitment to such will be considered by the new Chairman of Selectors, Brian Millar.

It was very noticeable that all our players paid their subs last season despite restricted games and this was very much appreciated. I would remind all players that subs must be paid by 1st June 2021 so that they are eligible for selection.

Peter McIlwaine and his team of coaches performed miracles last year and we are anticipating very large Youth numbers this season. I would ask all members to support Peter if their assistance is requested at Youth training sessions, as our under age cricketers are the life blood of our club.

Can I wish Adam McCusker and our first team a successful season in Section One. Jonny Parker will be returning from England in early July and will structure coaching from that point on, so it is important our senior players practice hard and get off to a winning start. Good luck also to the captains of our other teams. Last year was very, very successful and it is vital we all work together to build on that foundation.

Bangor Cricket Cricket Training is available on the following nights for adults from 6.30pm – 8.00pm without needing to “book a slot”.

Monday – First Eleven and Second Eleven and Development Squad Preference
Wednesday – Third Eleven and Fourth Eleven Preference
Thursday – First Eleven and Second Eleven and Development Squad Preference

All clubs members are reminded that current Covid Infection Control guidelines must be followed regarding Return to Train protocols. For more information, please check the Cricket Club Facebook Page.

Have a great season everyone.
