Cheers Kuda!

One of the main points from the recent AGM was that our oversea’s pro for the last two seasons Kuda Samunderu will sadly not be joining us again next season. However, we’re happy to share that he has accepted a post at Cricket Denmark and I’m sure everyone at the club will congratulate and wish him well as and when he takes up the role.

Kuda made his return to Upritchard Park back in 2022 after a very successful first outing for him at the club back in 2014. Over his three seasons, he’s racked up an accomplished record of over 2,000 runs, 76 wickets and 60 plus games during his three years. His record and contribution on the field for the Men’s 1st XI was so important in providing a constant force in the XI and a reassuring voice in the dressing room, as the team transitioned to a younger team this season following its relegation from Section One after a long stay in the division.

This only tells part of his story here though over the past two seasons, as he was such a vital cog in the Bangor CC wheel. He spent countless hours helping Barney and the grounds team with ground preparation work. Multiple days a week helping coach the next generation at our growing Youth section and last season being one of the main supporters for our Women’s 1st XI as they took to the field for the first time in the NCU leagues.

Club Captain Jonny Parker added “Kuda has been an integral part of Bangor CC over the past years he has been our overseas player and without his drive, passion and commitment many of the changes and growth our club has had over recent years would not have been possible. Kuda will always be remembered by his smile and joy that was infectious and we will be eternally grateful for all his efforts both on and off the field. All at Bangor CC would like to wish Kuda the best of luck with his new role and look forward to welcoming him back to Upritchard Park whenever possible.”

Thank you for your hard work and efforts on and off the field at Upritchard Park Kuda, they will undoubtedly come to fruition in the years to come! We all wish you well on your next adventure and we hope to see you again at UP, we’re only a relatively short flight away from Copenhagen!
