Following their recent victory in the cup, Bangor Ladies 1XI travelled to play Dundrum 2XI in their first league match of the season. Bangor won the toss and elected to bat.

Holly Willians and Meghann Stranaghan opened the batting and looked comfortable against the Dundrum attack, getting a respectable 13 runs each. Emma Rayner replaced Megan Stranaghan, when she was run out and started to increase the run rate, as the quality of the Dundrum bowling started to decline. Holly Williams was caught and then Sarah Stevens, Brooke Stewart and Brooke Stranaghan came in and added a few more runs to the board. Emma Rayner was replaced by Rachel McDowell, when she was retired on 30 runs and it was down to Kate English and Rachel McDowell to finish off the innings, with Rachel being particularly impressive, getting 2 boundaries from the last 2 balls of the game. Bangor ended up with 93 for 5 off their 20 overs.

Dundrum started the chase but were under pressure from the first ball with Brooke Stranaghan bowling a tight length and line. Meghan Stranaghan opened the bowling with Brooke, getting a maiden and giving  away only 5 runs off her 3 overs.Brooke Stewart and Kate English were the first change bowlers, with Kate English getting 2 wickets, the second from an excellent catch, by Brooke Stranaghan, in the field. Some more tight bowling by Holly Willams, Emma Hutchinson and Lisa Richards, with Lisa getting 2 wickets and giving away 8 runs off her 3 overs. Emma Rayner and Sarah Stevens were last to bowl, Emma getting 2 wickets for 4 runs and Sarah 1 wicket for 5 runs.

Bangor’s fielding was excellent throughout, which was reflected in a couple of run outs several catches and a stumping . Dundrum were all bowled out for 64 in the 18thover and Bangor celebrated their second win of the season.
